The LbL demonstrator is being built in the labs of Università di Parma. Thanks to Andrea Volpi’s group!
The NOVAPACK research team is expanding with the addition of Sonia Figuccia, who joined as a Research Fellow in the Department of Food and Drug Sciences, Università di Parma. She will be working on the “Production of extracts with antimicrobial activity by lactic acid fermentation of agro-industrial wastes and by-products for the development of innovative and sustainable biopolymers” initiative. Welcome, Sonia!

The NOVAPACK research team is expanding with the addition of Daiana Grimaldi, PhD, Research Fellow in the Department of Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies, Università di Parma. She will be working on the “Preparation of polymer matrix composite materials with antimicrobial function”. Welcome Daiana!
As a part of the dissemination activities within the Novapack project, on May 21, 2025, Professor Giulio Malucelli (Politecnico di Torino) gave a seminar focused on potential end-of-life strategies for polymeric materials. His presentation addressed the environmental challenges associated with conventional disposal methods, while highlighting the opportunities offered by mechanical and chemical recycling, industrial composting, and emerging approaches involving controlled biodegradation. The seminar provided a critical overview of current technologies and future perspectives, with particular emphasis on the integration of innovative solutions within the framework of circular economy principles and materials sustainability.
